Having the Townsville Expo on the same weekend as a Cowboys game brought people from Charters Towers, Ayr, Ingham, Mackay, Bargara and Cairns as well as Townsville locals to the Drive Queensland stand.

There was a mixture of families new to drive holidays, younger families wanting to camp, an older demographic, and motorbike riders wanting to either stay in accommodation or rely on their swag. Young couples were planning their first or second road trips and looking at upgrading their vehicles to better appointed vans.

The weekend was busy with young families buying a caravan for the first time and wanting short weekend adventures, while other young families were keen to camp. Newly retired couples were getting ready to hit the road for their first big adventure and seasoned older travellers were also planning big retirement trips.

Most were interested in heading west to the Outback to do Boulia for the camel races, Birdsville, Longreach, Winton and the Dinosaur Trail with a few questions about fossicking and pet-friendly camps. The Dinosaur Trail was especially popular with families for the school holidays.

A few wanted to see The Tip on a tour so they could relax and enjoy the experience. Many questions were asked about the Savannah Way and Tropical North Queensland. People planning on going to Savannah in the Round wanted information on what else they could see while they were travelling to the Atherton Tablelands.

The Mackay region was of interest and people with new vans were looking for alternate places to see along the coast. There were also inquiries about Ipswich, Gympie, Carnarvon Gorge and Magnetic Island. Many were new to Townsville and were keen to explore their local area.

Some were not sure where they wanted to go and found the Drive Queensland stand was a great starting point to map out itineraries and destinations that they would like. As always, the maps were very popular. Having Coral Expeditions on the stand was of interest to many people wanting to drive and do a short cruise.
