Multiple events in Mackay during the expo weekend made the mornings slow but there were still good numbers looking at purchasing a caravan who then came to the Drive Queensland stand.

The team met a mix of local people new to caravanning, others upgrading their vans and visitors on their Aussie lap heading north. It was mostly an older demographic with a few families coming through over the weekend.

There was a lot of interest from locals in researching short trips around the Mackay and Isaac region, with coastal destinations popular.

Tropical North Queensland was a highlight with the Savannah Way popular for those seeking longer adventures. As with other Expos along the coast, there were many inquiries about the Dinosaur Trail and Outback Queensland. St George, Cunnamulla and Thargomindah were of interest and there was much discussion about sealed and unsealed roads.

Other areas talked about included Bowen, the Capricorn region, Gympie and Cape York Peninsula with lots of questions about Cooktown and The Tip.

The Drive Queensland brochure was very well received and an excellent introduction for people coming to the stand for the first time. Brochures for Ipswich, Townsville, Yeppoon and Rockhampton were in demand.

Events were a popular topic with the most inquiries about the Birdsville Races and Savannah in the Round.
