The Drive Queensland team were pleased to learn that people were not bothered about the flooding and road closures in North Queensland and were still planning to travel north from April onwards. This was reflected in the number of people approaching the stand while neighbouring booths were quieter.
The top regions for engagement were the Outback and Tropical North Queensland with many questions about travelling off-road and family-friendly itineraries. Families and adventurers alike were excited about hitting the Outback and planning their Big Lap, with specific inquiries about Birdsville and Agnes Waters.
Interest was spread far and wide from all demographics, with the Savannah Way, Capricorn, Gympie, Ipswich and Townsville all very popular and a few inquiries about Toowoomba.
Young families were looking for shorter holiday itineraries and were keen to explore new destinations. Middle aged to older couples made up the seasoned travellers and there were quite a few first-time road trippers at the show to buy their very first van!
Some travellers were looking for events to determine the timing of their trip, while others wanted to know the best season for a road trip. There were a few fishing questions, lots of questions about sealed and unsealed roads and travelling to The Tip from travellers keen on camping and self-drive experiences, and inquiries about where to travel with pets.
