Located in the heart of Outback Queensland in Longreach, Qantas Founders Museum is an award-winning attraction celebrating the story of Australia’s national airline and the pioneers who helped shape modern aviation.

Set on the original grounds of Qantas’ early operations, and home to the National Heritage-listed Qantas Hangar, the Museum offers visitors an immersive journey through more than a century of innovation, resilience and adventure. From humble beginnings in the Queensland outback to becoming one of the world’s most recognised airlines, the Qantas story is deeply connected to the Australian landscape and spirit.

Visitors can explore historic aircraft up close, including the iconic Boeing 747, 707 and Super Constellation, through guided aircraft tours that take you inside these engineering marvels. Interactive exhibits, engaging storytelling and hands-on displays bring to life the people, technology and determination that helped connect remote communities with the wider world.

At night, enjoy Luminescent Longreach, an immersive sound and light show that tells the story of Qantas Airways.

Families will enjoy dedicated children’s activities and engaging exhibits, while aviation enthusiasts can dive deeper into technical history and rare artefacts. Daily guided tours provide insight into the founders, pilots, engineers and visionaries who built a global airline from regional beginnings.

Beyond the exhibits, guests can relax in the on-site café and browse the gift shop, featuring exclusive aviation-themed merchandise and more.

A visit to Qantas Founders Museum is more than a stop on your Outback Queensland drive — it is an opportunity to stand amongst iconic aircraft and experience the enduring spirit of Australian aviation.

Whether you are enjoying a road trip through the region or planning a destination stay in Longreach, Qantas Founders Museum is a must-see experience capturing the heart of Queensland’s aviation heritage.
