2025 Queensland Outdoor Adventure Expo

  • Toowoomba Showgrounds
  • 25 – 27 July 2025
  • 11,095 attendees, down from 13,053 in 2024
Despite heavy rain and flooding chased people away with the Expo closing early on the Saturday, Drive Queensland had a busy three days with many of the popular brochures running out. Our Ringers Western/Drive Queensland bags were a hit with people making the most of them to take more brochures for their travel research.

Drive Queensland and Outback brochures were the first to go, while the Caravan Queenland brochures were very popular. There was a mix of people grabbing specific brochures for trips in the next couple of weeks and others planning to do a big trip late next year. Good maps continued to be sought after and there were many requests for the events calendar.

The Expo was popular with first timers who have just purchased a caravan and wanted information for their first trip with most interested in shorter trips. This group was mainly retirees, with some younger people in the mix.

There were questions about all regions including the Southern Downs, Southern Queensland, Somerset region, while the North, Outback and inland areas were very popular. Gympie and its surrounding area were in demand, particularly for drives through forests in that region.

Information was shared about the Dinosaur Trail through Winton and Hughenden, the Simpson Desert, Longreach and the Birdsville Races. Tropical North Queensland was just as popular with Kuranda, the Daintree, Cape York and the Savannah Way discussed. The Lawn Hill flyers sparked a lot of interest with people wanting to return there now that it has finally reopened.

Fishing destinations were a hot topic, as were pet-friendly itineraries, permits for national parks, and free camps, and there was some interest in metal detecting and gold mining.

Many were seeking information on what roads were sealed and unsealed with plenty of
questions about routes to other states for the round trippers, including the Warrego Way to Matilda Way and up through Tambo to Longreach towards the Northern Territory. There were lots of questions about the Nullarbor, Western Australia and the Northern Territory!

Congratulations to Rob Murr who won the Savannah in the Round VIP pack competition which attracted 724 entries from people wanting to head to Mareeba for the annual event in October.
