Luxury Travel

GLAMPING

Take all you creature-comforts and put them in a tent and you have glamorous camping. We’re talking glamping tents, huts and even Glamtainers from the rustic to the five-star. Look for them on the beach, in the bush, in wineries and even outback and take the wilderness experience to a new level.

LUXURY WALKING LODGES

Queensland has some amazing multi-day walks but who wants to pitch a dodgy tent in the rain at the end of a hard day on the trail? Wouldn’t it be better to ease yourself into a hot bath, dine in an award-winning restaurant and then wake up to birdsong in a cabin surrounded by tall trees?

RAINFOREST RETREATS

Perhaps surprisingly, Queensland has an abundance of rainforest retreats to spirit you away from the daily grind and even more surprisingly they are in world heritage-listed wilderness areas. Think the Glasshouse Mountains (Sunshine Coast hinterland), the Scenic Rim (Gold Coast hinterland) and the ancient wet tropics of the Daintree.

ARTESIAN BATHS

Fancy a long, hot soak in mineral-rich waters? Well, you’re in luck. The Great Artesian Basin underlies much of Queensland, which means piping hot artesian baths can be found in the most unexpected places. Imagine reclining in a claw-footed bathtub and watching the outback stars with your favourite tipple in places as exotic as Julia Creek, Longreach and Cunnamulla.

BEACH BREAKS

With nearly 7000km of coastline it’s not hard to find a luxurious beach resort in Queensland. Laze in the pool, walk along the beach, soak in saltwater and indulge in the freshest of cuisines or load your car onto a ferry and do the same on an island such as K’Gari (Fraser Island).

HERITAGE ACCOMMODATION

Take a trip back in time when you stay in authentic vintage accommodation across Queensland. Enjoy the old-world glamour of a pub in Charleville or a renovated church in Warwick. Or find yourself in a genuine outback homestead in Quilpie or a stagecoach room in Longreach.
