Family Fun

Dinosaurs

Unleash your inner palaeontologist on the dinosaur trail. Start in Winton with the Australian Age of Dinosaurs and Lark Quarry. Meet dinosaurs Cooper and George at Eromanga or Hughie the Muttaburrasaurus at Hughenden. Don’t forget about Kronosaurus Korner at Richmond or fossil displays at Boulia and Isisford.

THEME PARKS

For adrenaline-fueled family adventures it is hard to beat the Gold Coast with places as magical as Dreamworld, Sea World and Movie World. But if you want to find a castle head to Paronella Park near Innisfail or if you really need a laugh or two check out the Crackup Sisters at Winton.

WILDLIFE

Queensland has it all: koalas at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary, crocodiles at Hartley’s Creek, birds of all feathers at Kuranda, turtles at Bundaberg, whales at Hervey Bay, tropical fish on the Great Barrier Reef, kangaroos and wallabies at Cape Hillsborough, cassowaries on Cape Tribulation or drop bears …. actually, please let us know if you do find a drop bear!

STARGAZE

Take a million-star trip though our universe. Peer through the telescopes on a clay pan near Burketown. Visit observatories at Kingaroy, Rubyvale and Brisbane. Explore the Dark Sky Sanctuary at Winton. And top it all off with a trip to the Cosmos Centre in Charleville where not only can you peer at the stars but where you can view the sun through telescopes.
